Snowy Terrain

Hayyy guysss! Just checking in to give you a little scenic update of my experience getting some outdoor "exercise" yesterday after meeting up with Michelle for an awesome lunch date! (Plus, I know a lot of local peeps who are looking for a safe-ish place to train for the Boston Marathon - this could potentially work - *maybe*)

I had a bit of down time when I got home and jawbone told me I was no where near my step goal (even though I had a KILLER am workout).  So, after I got home from a lengthy, lovely lunch with Michelle, I decided to go for a little walk. I had noticed a few people walking/running on the usually jam-packed sidewalk that lines the beach in Southie and continues into Castle Island. So, I figured it must be ok enough to get at least a little walk in. I dressed warm and headed out! What I found was really quite beautiful. I've run and walked Castle Island about 4 million times and I've NEVER seen it look like this. The sidewalk wasn't plowed completely, but, it was packed down enough to get a walk or a little runski in.

Massive shadow. Haiiii.

It's so crazy how much snow is still on the ground.

There were actually a good amount of people out and a lot of cute doggies! I did see some runners and I even picked it up a bit myself on the way home - there are definitely some slick areas, but, it's up to you to figure out if it's actually safe enough for a real run.

I came really close to jumping the fence to look for sea glass.

Frozen ocean bay and frozen Castle Island path. Sigh.

Frozen peninsula. The kite surfers who typically utilize this section of the bay to surf all year long are probably NOT happy campers.

Doesn't this look like another land? Alaska? Antartica? I don't know, but, I do know it's pretty damn cool.

Let the sun shine on!

Besides the bright sunlight, fresh ocean air, and bit of exercise... probably the coolest part of my walk/jog yesterday was the now hilly terrain that covers the sidewalk/boardwalk AND the scenery. It might be snow-madness, but, it is beautiful. We may have been hit hard this winter, but, Boston is still my favorite city in the world and I wouldn't trade it for a thing.

Have a lovely Sunday and March, we welcome you with open arms!

For my non-local readers: Here are a few photos from Castle Island when it's not covered in feet of snow. :)

Saturday Reading.

Good morning and happy weekend! These last few weekends have been rather low key which has been a welcome change to the madness that was most of 2014. As much as this down time can sometimes make me feel a little jiggy - I'm trying my best to embrace it because I know that the rest of the year is going to be jam packed with activities. Today, I'm heading to lunch with Michelle and tomorrow I'm going to swing by work because Shake Shack is grand opening at 11:00am. For the local readers -- you know this is a big deal! Tonight, I'm going to kick back, relax, and soak in the quiet. Here's some light reading to start your weekend.

Inclines are no joke.

They say we should see the ground again by April 3rd. Holding them to that.

This little girl is a genius.

Anyone else participating in Boston Bingo?

There are definitely some great cheap finds at Whole Foods.

I've mentioned my obsession with these blondies, so I'm excited to try these blondies next.

Carbonara. Now. Please.

Charleston is definitely on my short list.

I mean, duh, right?

Getting fit as a young professional.

Xtina killed it on Fallon.

Weekend Sunshine XXV

Holla and Happpyyyy Monday! For my New England friends: Raise your hand if this the first Monday you've gone to work, school, the store in the past 4 weeks?! Hallelujah - who would ever think we'd be excited to experience a plain old Monday? Anyway, this weekend flew. I worked and we only had one big commitment so it ended up balancing out quite nicely. Also, I don't know about you guys, but, the sunshine that peaked out of the sky with temps at a balmy 37 degrees yesterday, made me smile from ear to ear. Here's are my favs of the weekend:

Kicked off Thursday with Taco night.  Ground organic turkey breast with avo, tomatoes, red peppers, jalapenos, lettuce, lime, and organic cheddar. Delish!

Cold and blinded by the sunlight and not hating it. Squints magee. (yes, those snow banks are way taller than me)

I was off on Friday so I took a TOUGH PWG gym class with Derek so I had to re-fuel properly before heading out the door again. I used the leftovers from taco night to make a little omelet in an organic corn tortilla. It was pretty good.

Early Saturday morning, I put together a quick AMRAP before I headed off to work.

It worked out pretty well. I used low weight and high reps because I don't have any heavy weights at my house. (wouldn't be fair to the neighbors downstairs to be tossing around heavy weights haha)

Rob and I cooked together on Saturday night before we headed out for Allie's birthday at The Liberty Hotel. It was nice to sit in "his seat" while he made the burgers. They were buffalo meat burgers on a lettuce wrap with Alexia's sweet potato waffle fries. (I burnt the fries - I was so happy sitting with my Prosecco in Rob's seat that I forgot about them... whoops!)
For the burgers we mixed 1lb of meat with:
-1/4 Chopped red onion
-Tbs or so of dijon mustard
-1/2 Tsp of garlic powder
-Salt/pepper to taste
-2 Tbs feta cheese
It makes 3 burgers.

Kristen and me (and Anthony) ha!

After work on Sunday, I used half of the leftover buffalo burger and veggies from Taco night to make little tortilla tacos. Oh, and I managed to not burn the waffle fries....

Question time: LEFTOVERS: Love em or hate em?

Have a great week! xo
